Why do you think throughout the book the Simms' weren't repremanded and the sheriff also took the word of the Simms' over that of the Logans'?
I think the Simmses were listened to just because the Logans were black I think if the logans where white and claimed the Simmses did these things the sheriff would believe the Logans.
